We suggest appointments because we believe a personalized shopping experience is invaluable, especially for guitars and musical gear. As a small, locally owned and operated business by two people, we don't have unlimited staff and space. Although we keep some open shop hours, we prefer working by appointments on days and times outside our regular shop hours with special appointment times convenient for invaluable customers like you. What is Certified Open Box Gear?

El Cajon Guitars & Music’s Certified Open Box items are quality items offered at a specially discounted price.   

Certified Open Box items are products that have been unboxed and perhaps on display for longer than we’d like, as we love to keep our inventory moving!  As a small shop, we love keeping our inventory fresh and from time to time we select instruments for special clearance prices.  Every product that we sell has been hand selected and personally purchased by us, direct from the manufacturer.  Most manufacturers do not allow their products to be sold at below factory prices as there is a cost to them to sell and service manufacturer’s warranted products.  For this reason, Open Box Gear often does not come with the manufacturer’s full warranty.  However, the truth of the matter is that most manufacturer’s warranties only cover manufacturing defects.  We reject and send any items back that are defective.  We simply don’t want and won’t accept defective products in the first place.  

Additionally, every Certified Open Box item we sell has El Cajon Guitars & Music's has been tested and verified up to "new" specs by us, the owners who are experienced musicians and techs.  When you buy a Certified Open Box item at El Cajon Guitars & Music, you get:  Products inspected and tested by us, personally by the owners (Maria and Frank).  We guarantee the quality and functionality of all of the products that we sell.  Your satisfaction is always our top priority.  Open Box Gear is an opportunity for customers to buy new products at special low prices.

Absolutely we do repairs. Repairs on guitars, bass, ukulele, banjo, mandolin, and other stringed instruments are our speciality. But, we do not do violins, cellos, or similar classical instruments and we recommend you take them to violin specialty shops. We also offer guitar amp repair services.
