🏛️ About The Magnolia
Nestled in San Diego's El Cajon neighborhood, The Magnolia, formerly known as the East County Performing Arts Center, is an expansive and sunlit venue that shines after a recently completed multi-million dollar renovation.
Upgrades include a reconfigured seating layout showcasing great sightlines for 1,200 fans, a completely refurbished lobby bar serving craft beer and cocktails, a brand new VIP Lounge, plush front row seating, updated guest amenities and elevator access to the upper level seating for easy accessibility.
Beyond physical transformation, The Magnolia is dedicated to enhancing the cultural landscape of El Cajon and its neighboring communities with an emphasis on diversity and community engagement. Since re-opening, the venue has hosted world-class artists such as Daniel Kimbro, Jerry Douglas, Tommy Emmanuel, Jerry Cortez and Tower of Power, WAR, Steve Vai and his amazing band.
Our Story: A Little Guitar Shop with Big Dreams
When Maria and I created El Cajon Guitars and Music, our small guitar and music shop near The Magnolia, we never imagined the incredible musical journey that awaited us. Over the years, we've had the privilege of meeting some of the most talented artists who have graced The Magnolia's stage.
Our little shop has welcomed amazing performers like Daniel Kimbro, Jerry Douglas, Tommy Emmanuel, Jerry Cortez and Tower of Power, WAR, Steve Vai's guitarist Dave Weiner and bassist Phillip Benoit - just to name a few! It's how we became friends with Tower of Power guitarist Jerry Cortez and bassist Mark Van Wageningen, as many performers have stopped into El Cajon Guitars and Music before and after their shows.
One of our favorite recent memories was when bass player Dow Tomlin bought a bass from us and opened the show playing it with Wynona Judd's band that very evening! These connections with professional musicians have made our shop a true hub for the local music community.
Now, thanks to our partnership with Live Nation Entertainment and The Magnolia, we're able to bring you this incredible opportunity to see jazz fusion legend Al Di Meola live in concert!
About Al Di Meola
Albert Laurence Di Meola (born July 22, 1954) is an American guitarist known for his work in jazz fusion and world music. He had his breakthrough after joining Chick Corea's Return to Forever group in 1974 and launched a successful solo career noted for his technical mastery, complex compositions, and explorations of Latin music.
An alumnus of Berklee College of Music and a Grammy Award winner, Di Meola's successful career includes high-profile collaborations with musicians such as Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke, Larry Coryell, Steve Winwood, Jaco Pastorius, Paco de Lucía, Bill Bruford, John McLaughlin, Jan Hammer, Jean-Luc Ponty, and Steve Vai.
