Bedell's Brazilian Rosewood: Pre-Ban, Pre-CITES, Documented
What separates a Bedell Brazilian rosewood guitar from most others is provenance. According to Bedell's Tonewood Certification Project, the Brazilian rosewood in its guitars was cut years before Brazil's 1960s export ban and decades before the species' 1992 CITES Appendix I listing, and had been resting and aging in Spain ever since. Pre-Convention stock with a paper trail is exactly what makes a Brazilian rosewood guitar legally travel-worthy, and it is now extremely hard to find. Bedell describes the tonal payoff as a loud, warm, rich voice with deep bass, brilliant treble and long sustain, which is precisely what this dreadnought cutaway delivers.
