The Cort Action PJ delivers a reliable, versatile foundation for players at every level. Built around a full 34-inch scale and an ergonomic bolt-on body, it covers the classic tonal spectrum with a passive PJ pickup configuration that has been a staple of bass playing for decades. The Action Series body shape was designed to reduce fatigue and enhance playability during extended sessions — whether you're rehearsing, recording, or performing.

Pickup Configuration

The Cort Powersound PJ-style pickup set pairs a split-coil Precision-style pickup with a single-coil Jazz-style pickup. The P-type pickup delivers the warmth and punch suited to hard rock and classic rock, while the J-type adds the clarity and definition that works well for jazz and pop. Blend them together or favor one over the other to dial in exactly what the song calls for. The passive electronics — two volume controls and a single tone control — keep the signal path simple and the tone natural, with no battery required.

Neck and Fingerboard

A Canadian Hard Maple neck provides stiffness and sustain, while the Jatoba fingerboard offers a smooth playing surface with a 15.75-inch (R400) radius that suits both chording and single-note runs. Twenty-four frets give you access to the full upper register, and white dot inlays keep navigation clean and uncluttered.

Body and Hardware

The Poplar body keeps the instrument lightweight and balanced. The Cort EB6 4-string bridge provides solid string anchoring and straightforward saddle adjustment. Die-cast tuning machines hold tune reliably under regular playing conditions. All hardware is finished in chrome. The Open Pore Black finish lets the natural texture of the wood show through, and according to Cort, the open pore treatment also improves the acoustic resonance of the instrument.
