Suzuki MR-250 Bluesmaster Harmonica – 10-Hole Diatonic Blues Harp
- Price
- $39.99
The Suzuki Bluesmaster MR-250 is a 10-hole, 20-reed diatonic harmonica built for players who are past their first harp. Made in Japan.
Phosphor bronze reeds on brass reed plates give it a quick, responsive attack that bends cleanly and holds its tuning. The sealed ABS comb will not swell or warp the way a wood comb does, so it stays comfortable against your lips and stays in tune season after season. Stainless steel cover plates are formed to project, which means it cuts through a band without a mic.

Which Key Do I Need?
Blues and rock players almost always play cross harp (second position) — you pick up a harp pitched a fourth below the song’s key, which puts the bends where the blues notes live. If you are playing melodies, folk, or country, you want straight harp (first position), same key as the song.
| Band is playing in… | Cross harp (blues) | Straight harp (melody) |
|---|---|---|
| E | A | E |
| A | D | A |
| G | C | G |
| D | G | D |
| C | F | C |
| B♭ | E♭ | B♭ |
If you play guitar, here is the shortcut: most blues gets called in E and A, which means a C, G, A, and D will cover you almost everywhere. That is why those four sell first.
Not sure which key you need?
Most players start with C. It is the key every method book and instructional video is written in. After that, G and A are the two most useful for blues and country, and D rounds out the set. If you are playing along with a band, call us and we will tell you which harp you need for the key they are in.
Taking Care Of It
Tap it out on your palm when you are done and store it holes-down so it dries. Do not play right after eating, and never rinse one under the tap — water is what kills reeds. Treated decently, one of these lasts years.
