Why Buy From ECG Music?
Gibson® first introduced adjustable truss rods in 1921, invented by Ted McHugh, their factory manager. Early truss rod covers were simple, narrow plates. By the mid 1930s , Gibson® standardized the bell shaped cover you recognize today. Through the 1940s and 1950s, nearly every Gibson® guitar carried this small but iconic detail. The design has remained essentially unchanged for decades and has become an industry standard.
Cellulose Acetate Butyrate (CAB) is an old-school bio-plastic prized for its durability, flexibility and natural aging properties. Unlike many modern plastics, it develops character over time, making it a favorite material among restorers, collectors and builders seeking period-correct components.
The Norlin® True Historic Series represents hardware exactly as it would have appeared on a new Gibson® guitar hanging on a music store wall in the 1950s and 1960s. Vintage-correct shape and dimensions were reverse engineered from an authentic 1959 Gibson® Les Paul®, ensuring an exceptionally accurate reproduction of one of the most iconic truss rod covers ever produced.
Individual Norlin® true historic bell truss rod cover for Gibson® guitars. Does not include mounting hardware. Compatible with Heritage® and Jimmy Wallace Guitars®.
